Q: Is Toastmasters a cult?
A: Judging from the other clubs some of us have visisted, we definitely have a more laid-back approach to Toastmasters. We feel a more relaxed atmosphere allows us to practice public speaking much more easily. There is plenty of rigidity and protocol to be had at formal public speaking events, and our members are free to incorporate that into our speeches, but P&B Toastmasters has always focused on the beginner's experience. The attendance is varied in terms of what kind of people show up from one meeting to the next so there is always something new! We do observe the formalities of timing and grammar, only because its fun :)
Q: What are the fees?
A: Members fees are due every 6 months and are $23.something? If you are a P&B employee, there is a discount rate of $13.something. Fees cover Toastmaster booklets and club membership which is required to deliver prepared speeches. (Other roles in the meeting are available to guests!)
Q: When are the meetings?
A: The club meets every two weeks on a Wednesday. Check the next meeting's agenda for the next date.
